So this weekend sees the start of another season of Premiership Rugby with a totally new broadcaster. I wonder which will have the greater impact on the entertainment?
If the coverage is anything like that of the French Top 14, I’d say we are in for a rough season. Sometimes its great. Tomorrow night there [...]
I genuinely think it is. I’m not trying to insult, I understand its not altogether flattering but I just thought it was nice to see a bit of belly again, and there were some crackers on show.
My personal favourite being sported by the South African replacement Hooker. For some reason the IRB aren’t using her [...]
After all the bad news with injuries for the summer tour can Ireland put in a performance this evening that could brighten the mood a little? Looking at the teams:
Ireland: R Kearney (Leinster), S Horgan (Leinster), G Duffy (Connacht), F McFadden (Leinster), A Trimble (Ulster), R O’Gara (Munster) cpt, P Stringer (Munster); M Horan (Munster), [...]
That time of the tournament again and the Gods have spoken, the shortlist announced as follows:
Imanol Harinordoquy
Mathieu Bastareaud
Morgan Parra
Thierry Dusautoir
Tommy Bowe
Shane Williams
Come on lads, show some imagination will you. Undoubtedly Harinordoquy and Parra deserve their places but the rest seem to hint that this list was made before the tournament. Shane Williams, as ever the [...]
Just to get things straight, I’m a Hooker. I should say I was a Hooker really but the feeling never leaves you. So officially I’m a believer but I’m just bored of scrums.
Scotland Vs England on the weekend was admittedly a total horse tranquiliser of a game. I dozed off for about ten minutes of [...]
Wales Vs Scotland, 14:00 13/02/2010
Wales:Lee Byrne (Ospreys); Leigh Halfpenny (Cardiff Blues), James Hook (Ospreys), Jamie Roberts (Cardiff Blues), Shane Williams (Ospreys); Stephen Jones (Scarlets), Gareth Cooper (Cardiff Blues); Paul James (Ospreys), Gareth Williams (Cardiff Blues), Adam Jones (Ospreys), Jonathan Thomas (Ospreys), Alun Wyn Jones (Ospreys), Andy Powell (Cardiff Blues), Martyn Williams (Cardiff Blues), Ryan Jones [...]
There I’ve said it. The genuine highlight of the weekend had to be Will Harries’ beautiful solo effort shortly after the French gave up at half time in Scotland.
Ireland Vs Italy:
Both sides poorer than expected, opening weekend rustiness or not. There were brief glimpses of Craig Gower not being another ‘Bergamasco’ but all to brief. [...]
Or at least he should. Lee Byrne’s appeal has gone remarkably well and on the most part, without enquiry as far as I can see. It seems to me that there has been a dramatic turn around on the behalf of the Independent Disciplinary Committee who less than a week ago told us:
The independent Disciplinary [...]
About 5pm Saturday afternoon. Stade Francais let me down then Leinster and ultimately I got taught a lesson on Sunday afternoon betting against my local club, shame on me. Still a great weekend for Rugby all round, some amazing games to look forward too and nine out of twelve of my predictions came through. I [...]
Played 4 won 4. Thanks in no small way go to Scott Johnsons genius tactics. 16 men on the field of play for over a minute has got to be highly [...]
